ok, i have a question about this Powerchip mod.
i've seen them priced at $640 and they claim a
HP increase to 367HP on 93 octane for the 4.6is'.
now, Dinan's S2 Package is $5500 w/ a HP increase
to 369HP. am i missing something here?:dunno: i see
that w/ Dinan, u get a bunch of other stuff, but if it's
about HP, y would one spend $5500 instead of $640?

what are the benfits of going the Dinan route vs. Powerchip?

I have known Superchips since 1995 and their power claims for normally aspirated cars are in some cases optimistic! In the case of the 4.6,they are only claiming a 4.85% increase which is believable!
Having said this, the only way they can increase power in a non-turbo engine is by advancing ignition and giving it more fuel and correcting the map parameters where the manufacturer programmed for fuel consumption instead of max.power.Generally when advancing ignition,in order to cancel engine pinking ,Superchips always recommend higher octane fuel,so I am bit surprised at their claim for the 4.6is!

The Dinan package is way expensive !289.00 Usd for each horsepower gained!
Definitely not worth it!
Superchips will cost you 37.00 usd per Hp gained!Even if you may only get less than their claimed 367hp!

I havent looked at Dinan's web site but are you sure those figures are correct?

Called Eurobahn today and was quoted $999 for doing a 4.8 w/projected gain of 22hp/28ftlb on 91 oct. (higher w/AFE & Exhaust). Sounds pretty expensive for reprogramming to me or am I just cheap?:dunno:

Very expensive!Get them to show you a power graph!

What counts are the engine mods!
Dinans pricing policy is a con and their power claims are meant to confuse people.
They dont say what increases you get with just reprogramming! They also give you individual power gains but only if fitted with other products!Confusing or what!
They claim 14bhp for the cold air intake system alone,8bhp for the exhaust,9 for the MAF an d 9 for the TB!If you add all this you get 40 bhp and not 29 bhp!But you cant argue with them because they say that you,for example, that you get an increaseof 9 hp with the MAF ,IF you already have the TB,exhaust,AFE.........!

WOW! they quoted me $599 for the 4.4 with a gain of 18hp, so those extra 4hp are expensive. I'd see what their explanation is for that big of a price difference for only 4 hp. on superchips website, it says that the 4.8 only gets a 18 hp bump and is the same price (in pounds) as the 4.4.
