If you're careful and gently peel off the sticker on the back of the cluster, you can put it back on and it'll look like it was never opened.

That's odd  ... I installed the rings on my cluster and it has the tamper dot. Didn't notice the dot until someone here mentioned it awhile back and I went to check myself and it was there. oh well...... whats done is done.
I did at least carefully peeled the sticker off slowly.

Post a pic of it if you get a chance.

You'll notice no dot on mine in the pic in this post:

Now I'm confused. Does this Mod cause the tamper dot or deos it not? JV says no while Silentx5 says yes? What is it? What do others think?

I just installed the guage rings on the weekend and no tamper dot for me.

I was in the same boat. I tried fiddling with various mini screwdrivers and having my wife hold some in the side clips while I tried to twist the X clips. Recipe for divorce.

Here's the trick:
1) Take 1 old credit/debit/discount card.
2) Cut 4 strips the same width as the slots around the outside.
3) Insert strips all the way into the slots so that the clips slide on them.
4) There is a spot on the top where you can wedge a screw driver to put a little outward pressure on the backing.
5) While applying some pressure with the screwdriver start twisting the top X clip with needle nose pliers to unhook it. Once it lines up it should slip in the slot a bit and hold. The key is to keep the pressure with the screwdriver so that the X clips don't pop back out.
6) Work your way around the other X clips. You may want to do the middle one first if the top ones don't go initially. It depends on the tolerances and which X clip is the tightest.

You need to gently squeeze the larger rings to work them through the opening. Be gentle as you don't want to collapse the ring.

Let me know if you still can't get it. I'm not a beer drinker but I take a double latte anytime. :)

No prob. Get your lights baked and the rings installed then come over and I'll help you sort out the wiring.
