I hate tranny hesitation on new models... Anyone got a tranny software upgrade?

HamannE53 08-10-2006 01:53 PM

some older models may not show the full potential, due to the wear and tear issue...maintainance plays a big role and could be hard to compare an 01 in 2006

I posted before, maybe May. BMW has a V23 upgrade for 06 pending. 05's already have an upgrade available. Many have posted their 05's did better with the upgeade. I will get the upgrade as soon as is available. May be better info in search here.

Ok, I've got it. On page 88 of the BMW Car magazine September issue, you can find specs of all the X5's. It shows that the 286hp 4.4 (pre 2004) does 0-62mph in 7.5 secs while the 320hp 4.4 (post 2004) does 0-62mph in 7 seconds.:nanana:

I have been reading Car and Driver magazine for approximately 20 years and they seem to have the fastest test times posted for vehicles. I also prefer independent data to the manufactures.

The two links below are for a 2002 and a 2004 X5 4.4s. I think the 03s had a HP increase to 290??? I'm trying to find the issue.

I have an 04 4.4i with 20k miles on itand my cousin has an 01 with 60k miles on it. We raced 0to maybe like 70 or 75 and i had him from the start. We were even at the start for maybe 50ft then i pulled away from him steadily after that. But we raced on the highway also from like 65mph to about 120mph and my 04 was alot faster than his at those speeds. the valvetronic topend smokes the non valvetronic on top end.

The valvetronic replaces the throttle body for limiting engine speed. Though the valvetronic is more technically advanced than a throttle body, it is less responsive to rapid changes like flooring it off the line. Once at speed the valvetronic breathes better than a throttle body and adds horsepower. I doubt you will see valvetronic M engines.

I don't recall any increase in HP until the facelift. At least not in the Euro specs. Always 286hp.
