Update. Just received a call from BMWNA. They are going to cover the cost of the parts as long as I cover the labor. Nice touch on BMW's part. |
As it is their responsibility in the first place for such a poorly designed and manufactured component they really should be changing these for free. Still, given there poor response to other similarly poor designed and manufactured parts (Window regulators, water pumps to name but two.) I guess we should be giving them a big "Whoopee" for doing anything at all.

Great. I had my replace too the same way. it is perfectly great now. :)

Any suggestions from anyone who has successfully gotten BMW to replace the MID? Should I resubmit my information? |

Thank you for this thread - my 2001 X5 goes in this afternoon to have my instrument pixel display replaced - Robert Murphy of BMWNA has told me BMWNA is picking up the cost of parts and I only have to pay for the labor - sweet deal, as I was going to replace it either way - I still have some minor age issues as the door locks sometimes stick, as does the radio on/off button, and the memory modules sometimes rearrange the side mirror settings - but I've go this baby to almost new - I hate to think I may sell it
