Generally 8.8lt/100km, driving to and from work daily. That's about 26.7mpg US, or 32mpg UK, which is a lot better than I used to get from my 6lt V8 HSV

And nearly as much fun :)

Average consumption on mine from initial purchase to 15,000km has been 10.4 litre/100km. This includes approx 25% of the milage pulling a 30 ft race car trailer, and the rest mostly lead footing it around town.

On country trips without the trailer I easily get 8 litre/100km.

Chris.

i reallllllllly can't wait until california starts allowing diesel cars back, esp now that BlueTec is available thanks to Mercedes. A diesel X5 would be awesome.

My 184 hp 2003 X5 Diesel with automatic gearbox needs between 9,5 to 10,5 l / 100 km. And i drive not particularly slow down...

A man called Fochesato, who was working for Ferrari, is selling a reprogramming ship service that put your diesel engine up to 50 hp more and 12 nm of torque more !! and what ever is your engine (184 or 218...)

Reprogrammed ship is not detectable by BMW maintenance service....

Some french magazine have test it and apparently that is working fine and fuel consumption is lowered from 0,5 to 1 l / 100 km.

Drawbacks : cost... Around 1500 €...

Does anyone has try a ship or something to boost his diesel X5 ?

The most impressive with the 218 hp diesel engines, are the the 367 lb-ft torque that are easily chipped/tuned to around 260 hp and 440 lb-ft torque. And all that with 32+ mpg consumption.

what part number is the particulate filter? my car is a 2004 diesel. Does my car come with the particulate filter? I think that diesel fuel quality here in the philippines really sucks

Hì! I'm Italian. Here we have the Digitaltuning shop who is working very good.
The main factory is in Switzerland. They work very good, with the limit to excess of smoke and not more than 35HP to avoid mechanic problems.
Remember that the automatic tranny (5 speed old version like mine)could have problem with torque superior at around 50Mn.
The fuel consumption are really lower because you have more torque and the engine works better. Reduction around 0,5 and performance impressive!
Price is around 650Euro

Boost up diesel X5

Wow, 35 hp for 650 €, that seems to be a good deal ! Do you have any contact for them ?

Do you know how do they proceed ?

I'm very afraid from solutions that increase turbo pressure...

Have you try the solution you've talked about ?

your diesel quality should be ok. it is normal for black smoke to come out of the exhaust when you put your foot down.

i think u can eliminate the black smoke by getting an aftermarket chip and a good dyno tune.

They connect to the head electronic box and by computer they reset your chip and put inside the new program, it takes around 15-20 minutes.
This is not visible from the bmw instruments.
It acts on the parameters of the motor, injection, turbo,.....
The web address should be: www.digitaltuning.ch , try to contact them.
I'm very happy
