If it were me, and I could cancel the purchase and give it back, I'd drive it down to that selling dlr, in a NY freakin minute. There are car lots full of used X5s for sale... I'd hunt up a newer model year X, maybe from a BMW Stlr, with some kind of CPO warranty on the beast... My 25cts. GL,mD |
what is the Factory BMW Warranty on those things?
|
Return it. Buy a car from a private owner who has taken great care of their X5.

I would rake it back!
on a side note, I gues I have been lucky not to have major problems with my 2000 X5 4.4 (production date 11/99). The usual - window regulators, cluster pixel dead, rattles, cooling system hoses, radiator, expansion cap, camshaft position sensor, dead battery. I bought the car off a wholesale dealer with about 24000 miles on it. The X-5 has 69000 miles as of now and I have enjoyed my car very much - the only concern has always been the transmission. PLEYRSWAY: So it I was you, I would take THAT car back and look for another 1st time owner 2000 X5 with well documented maintenance history. Listen to the wisdom on this board. These guys know what they talk about! Good luck. |
Ive been reading a lot of places saying that my battery would of died because of the radio staying on? After i jumped it last night I turned off the navigation screen myself and the radio myself and I havent had a problem yet.

Skip the rationale...if you can return the sumbitch,
do it. It's gonna be a money pit. -Shop Ebay: hundreds of X5s,X3s for sale. -Shop a few BMW stlrs in your area: they will have parking lots full of used/just off lease Xs. Some will still have orig. warranty; some will have a CPO warranty. Do some reading on the front page index, here. Toss that pos, imo. GL,mD |

sounds like ill take it back unless strictly BMW says its only a fuse or something. Im just upside down in my 528i quite a bit from dumping my s2000! So when i trade my car in the deal has to fly right.

Cars are expensive, hugely depreciating "assets"...
Shop carefully, buy something you can afford, drive it 'til it drops. Repeat process. It will save pain in the future, imo. GL,mD |
Sounds like a good plan Players. Why take a chance on this one? Considering you can walk away from it now I would do so.
If you are really in the hole and want a bit more economical ride pick up a used Jeep Cherokee instead of the X5. |
