Suggestions on tires?
 

I have a 2004 X5 3.0i with the Sport Packages' 18 inches wheels
I had been running around 30K miles with the tires it came with and it wearing out pretty bad now...
so I was thinking about putting some new tires on soon(at least for the front ones since they are about to pop like every second...lol)

The stock ones were Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus (255/55R-18, Speed Rating HR)

I'm thinking about buying tires that have VR or ZR Speed Ratings..
so for you guys who bought or tried those VR or ZR tires on X5, how much difference does it make? and any suggestion on some performance tires that would fit on the stock wheels I have? Thanks!:thumbup::thumbup:

you can go with a higher speed rating although you do jeopardize tire life. the current ratings are rated for driving up to 110, but that does not mean you are limited to it. it really comes down to if you want to spend a little more money, and if that justifies the extra grip and 'performance' :thumbup:

so how much differecn would it feel with those ZR or VR tires? noticeable difference compare to the stock ones? :popcorn:

with a higher speed rating, the tires are softer, but i'm not sure if that will make the car feel different. hmmm...interesting...

Im not going for the top speed but I care more about how the car will feel and handles with those tires :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I was looking at the Yokohama ADVAN ST tires that will fit on my wheels but heard rumors about Yokohama's tire quality problems..did you heard anything like that before?

not to be one of those people who follow branding...but you cannot go wrong with michelans or pirellis...

with that said, yokohama is okay, you don't really have to worry about quality issues...although i've heard some quality issues like they're not perfectly round, are mis-calibrated, and unstable/cause a lot of vibration...

I had Yokohamas and wore through a set in less than 10,000 miles. I really liked the Toyo Proxes I had on my Expedition. They will be the next shoes on my X.

Michelin Diamaris 4x4 are excelent tires. :thumbup:

Mine are 285/45 x 19 (back) and 255/50 x 19 (front). And the car goes like on rails.

Winter tires: Vredstein Xtreme 235/65 x 17.
