:xoutpost: If you can afford it go for the 4.8is

If you are looking to get another X5 in the next couple years, I would get the 4.8is becuase it will have more resale value.

depends on what you're looking for...if you're happy with the speed of the 4.8is, then go with that one...like Lemans said, you get all the goodies with the 05 (you'll love the pano sunroof). However, there isn't a Dinan S/C for the 04s and up, so for the extra $15K, you could get the S3 package for the 4.6is and have 451hp and 439 lb-ft torque :wow: which I presume would make it faster than the stock 4.8is.

I'm impressed I did not know the 4.8 could do a 5.6 second 0 - 60! I really thought it and the 4.6 were comparable at 6.1 second 0 - 60's.

C/D's review of the 4.6is and their review of the 4.8is. 4.6is 0-60 is 6.5 sec and the 4.8is is 6.0 sec.

BMW official published figures for 4.8is 0-60 is 5.9 sec.

where did you get the 6.1 number from (I'm not being hostile, just curious who got it)

Not to high-jack this thread, but I found an 03' 4.6iS with 21,000 miles, still in factory warranty, that is coming off a lease and is being offered for $44K CPO. I am thinking of trading my 03' 4.4i with 40K on it for it (minus the goodies)

Any thoughts? Is it worth the swap?

You have a lot of mods on your 4.4. Why not through in some more dinan products, and it will be just as fast a 4.6. Plus you do not know you owned that 4.6 before you.

I had my dealer run the VIN for me today. I know where it was purchased, and serviced (locally) and if there are any outstanding recalls, SB's.
