Deal or No Deal: 2003 BMW X5

Hi all,

I am new to the board. I currently own a 2000 BMW 323i. Its getting pretty high in mileage. I promised myself that the next car I bought would another BMW since I've had an absolute great experience with mine now.

With that said I started shopping around and found a 2003 BMW X5. It has 51,000 miles on it. Its Premium packaged (does that automatically mean it also has Xenon's?). Titanium Silver. For just about 24,000.00 Does that sound like a good deal? I'm supposed to go check it out this coming weekend and if your guys's advice is positive and I'll be coming home with a new X5. Can I also bring that price down? Or do you guys believe its already at the lowest possible price? Of course that's what the car sales man told me over the phone.

By the way the climate controls are knobs and not buttons like on my digital climate control on my almost 3 years older Beemer. Why is that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

3.0, 4.4, 4.6 ? Warranty?

Sorry...I suppose I forgot a huge selling factor. Its 3.0i. I don't think I would want anything bigger because of the gas prices in southern california. I also forgot to mention that's its black leather, moonroof, powered seats.

If the HVAC controls are knobs, I think (not sure) that that means it does not have the premimum package, and that is a base, no option model. All X5s (in US) have the moonroof and power seats, nothing special there.

Sounds like you might want to get some more info.

The price doesn't sound like any special deal to me for an '03 six-banger. There should be lots to choose from in the LA area.

from the information you provided, it definitely doesn't sound like a great deal, IMO. Automatic climate control comes with the premium package, so if your climate control is not digital, and the seller is claiming premium package on the car, something's not right. Xenon headlights was a seperate option not available as part of any package.
Another way to tell if the car has premium package is if the rear seats have power recline or not.

Look at this car on ebay. This car is equipped with premium package (leather interior, auto climate control, power rear seatbacks, 8 function on board computer(on the radio you would see BC next to the clock button, as well as a different instrument cluster, etc.), cold weather package (heated seats and ski bag), heated steering wheel, rear climate package (rear privacy glass, rear sunshades, and rear fan control), Xenon headlights (look for the "hole" in the middle of the low beam if you're not sure).

do you have pictures of this car you're looking at?

You can see the car at www.californiabeemers.com its the one for 23,888 I believe. Its silver. I know I can see a projector from the pictures. Please take a gander. I first found it at autotrader.com and it clearly states Premium Package...can I get them for false advertisement? Get a good deal?

I wish that car that was found on ebay was out here. I believe its in Indiana! Too far for me.

IMO forget this one keep looking. There are TONS of X5's for sale. You can find a better deal and more options.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I looked at the ad again. It does say premium package. But not much else is stated. Didn't see anything about an on board computer, or reclineable rear seats.

The reason this one caught my eye, to be completely honest, was the price. Its right in my price range. But I would like more options.

Any suggestions of places to check out? I've tried autotrader for the most part using area code 90034. Any help spotting the best deal with great options would be greatly appreciated

Yeah its priced high in my opinion for what it is. s/b more like 19-20k. Here is a CPO X5 with Nav, xen, premium and 100k warranty: http://www.bmwusa.com/cpo/detail.htm...r=&pagerecs=25
