Just open the mirror housing using these instructions

and then fix a small metal pin using these instructions

Good luck

Thanks for good instructions. I repaired my X5 in 30 mins. (However - be careful when attaching the small metal pin - you can easily assemble it upside down.)

Folding mirrors

I have the same problem with my mirrrors folding then unfolding immediately. Spoke to a friendly SA at my local dealer, who said that bending the mirrors forward, as in swinging them toward the front of the car accidently, will break the micro switch and the dealer will charge you for a replacement mirror. ($1000). the only bit they say they can salvage is the casing. I would love to see the micro switch repair instructions in english too!

I came to the conclusion that the wire harness was pushing the micro switches too far in after replacing the covers which were applying pressure on the harness so I removed the covers again removed all the connectors in the mirror and reinserted them making sure that the harness wasn't going to move the micro switches once I replaced the covers and it worked. My mirrors have been active for the past month without any problems. I suggest you take the micro switch on each mirror and move it either over or under the main harness whichever seems to fit better!!! Good luck!!!!

can you show this with pics

Anyone have the pic's from the French site. They're gone now.
Or at least a description of what needs to be done?
