Yeah, just gotta get another can of spray tint. (probably gonna get new 4.6is badging and hit them up too) I'm about to bombard the X with other mods as well. BSW stage 1 upgrade, JL 10" stealth box, CAI, AE's (can you rec. the best ones he has available? I like cut top evil looking ones) with fluted wafers removal. and might have info on aquiring oem hitch (new hope!) Anything I'm forgetting? :D

Maybe the previous owner "upgraded" yours from white to red? :dunno::D

BTW, my 05 4.8iS with the clear 3rd has a build date of 10/04.

My silver '03 4.6 has a clear one.

I'm thinking about tinting it after weasel's post.

i am starting to wonder why mine is red... I think I like white better... but I can't really tell. I'm not sure if its worth the 50 bucks or whatever it is and effort to switch it though.

Mine was red but the dealer changed it for me to white!!! It is supposed to be white as of '03 I believe. They didn't understand why it happened but i got it changed free of charge!!!!

Was this when you purchased it or were you having issues and requested a different color? For some reason this topic intrigues me as it seems there is no rhyme or reason to why this was done this way.. there has to be though, I don't think BMW would just randomly throw in different lights...

i just searched and searched for this issue myself. I just today picked up an '06 4.4 and the third brake light is red. I thought it was supposed to be white. My friend also has the same model and his has a white light. what gives?? :dunno:
