No i'm not. But BMW simply can't CPO every vehicle that comes off lease. My first BMW wasn't purchased on CPO and i had no major issues in the first 1.5 yrs.. things started to go because of old age.
I did share the same skepticism as well though - the "too good to be true" syndrome.. it has 17k miles.. and it's not on BMWs lot... has to be a problem with it.. So i called BMW and got the service record info over the phone. in the last 3 yrs it's been in the shop 3 times... for minor things. 1 visit was to adjust the seatbelt..
I do know that here in the northeast BMW has an auction that dealers go to, and i imagine that alot of the cars there don't go CPO, but to other dealers. A friend of mine is a dealer and bought my brother in law's 2006 530xi from the BMW auction. His wasn't CPOd but he hasn't had any issues yet (knock on wood).
Not that this makes a difference, but i hope it is evidence that the dealership has pride in their cars, they sell high end cars.. i was even thinking of getting the 2006 Bentley coupe, but couldnt get him to budge from $90k to $33k.. :-D
