What happened to your 4.8?
I'd ask an indy shop what they think, personally I think the electrics of the swap would cause you more headache than it's worth. BTW, are you sure the engine didn't suffer from the impact? Doesn't look too good... |

That swap would be more trouble than it's worth... The engine is different as the 4.8is is a valvetronic motor so the harness and DME are completely different... The transmission is different, the transfer case is different, and all of the control modules need to communicate with eachother. The only way to do that would be to swap out the whole drivetrain and all of the computers and the whole body harness as there are extra computers on the 04 that aren't on the 03, such as the transfer case control...
Basically, it can't realisticly be swapped, So I'd stick with either your current rebuilding project or buying a longblock or shortblock used, maybe LKQ has an engine for a decent price. http://www.lkqonline.com/default.aspx |

Best of luck....and better luck with the rebuild.....on the 4.8!! Rich:thumbup: |
I see one thing that truck has that mine doesn't............. NAV! The only nav I have is a cheap little garmin in the center console. I'd strongly consider that one!

ok guys, now all i need to know is whats the max i should pay for this wreck.
IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS PLEASE! |
Looks like there are a lot of good parts from the pics. Is this local? Can you physically inspect this vehicle? Total up what you can sell or use for yourself on the 4.8is. I'd have to at least double my money or more. The wheels, nav, seats, tranny, engine, modules etc, etc could add up to quite a bit if sold individually. Just my my 2 cents. Good luck with the auction!
