Sorry can't do a X6 M, just on principle and Fuchsia metallic ( pussencoloren metallic) isn't available on the X5 M, even on a priority 1.

I fact, can you make mine an X6M in that color?

I hope you are laughing because you are joking.

A V10 equipped e53 would blow a factory 4.8is out of the water. No matter where the torque curve is it still has plenty to get it moving, and once you do get it moving it has 500+ horsepower and would just slaughter other e53s. By saying it is not usable do you think that the 3.0 and 4.4 are not usable either? lol

It may not be within the capabilities of everyone but for those that can handle engine swaps in general this would probably be one of the easiest. You can find the engine/tranny from a salvaged M5, have a driveshaft fabricated, and the EMS setup could be done by any number of shops/private individuals around the country. The two cars share similar wiring systems and the E60 uses the same V8 as the later E53s so I am sure it would be smoother than something like a SBC. A standalone would also be an easy option.

You could do it all for well under the cost of an X5 M and you'd have a much better looking and unique vehicle as well.

I'm only saying its a waste of time and money b/c if you want the speed, then just get the factory built option: X5M.

Apparently you think its very inexpensive to get 600hp out of the S85. Currently the only reliable way of doing that is getting the Dinan Stroker 5.7 kit which runs $25k. If I had 25k lying around to blow on mods, I'd just go get myself an X5M and not bother with the headaches of sourcing a S85 and stroking it. You know the S85 still run about 10-15k from a salvaged car? What, did you think they are a dime a dozen? A crate S85 from the factory is a 35k motor. Not something you probably want to start diving into when there is a X5/X6M that does 0.1 of a sec slower 0-60 times than a stock S85 M5. You have no idea what you're getting into. I'm just trying to inject some reality into your statement.

This is an engine swap thread, not a "may as well buy an X5 M" thread.

This is the same bullshit I was dealing with when I asked about tapping into the air compressor. Don't you people have any imagination? What is the point of a club like this if you have an original idea and a bunch of defeatists come in and start slinging mud on it? Not only that but attack my credibility? Who are you that you think I have no idea what I'm talking about?

You can keep your reality because it sounds pretty damn boring.

So now getting back to that rocket...

Yep. Besides, an S62 will actually bolt in, though the coding required to get it to work with the auto and AWD would be a nightmare. It would still be cool though to have a "X5M" that never was.

Don't let the sarcasm get you down. Many of us have ideas on things we would do if we had a huge windfall. Some would like to buy a bunch of ///M logos and lambo doors, that is their own fantasy. One of mine would be to build an X5 LM, albeit facelifted. I would rather put this money into the e53 to make one than buy an e70.
"Clubs" are always going to have people with different ideas on what is right or not, but they are simply opinions. Look in a Roundel; with the exception of an article about the e53 Bentley manual, you never see people talking about SAVs except that they are not real BMWs (even Mini gets plenty of ink).
Stay Strong!
