I setup a DIS57 + SSS V39 (?) + USB to (16 pin) OBD II connector Windows 7 notebook. I need to reset X5's MK3 Navigation computer to accept a new Navigation software update.

Help please.

Thanks.

Hi Fastech, I dealt a lot with rear suspension, with the gt1 I was able to program a new module (mine was bad, corroded), and I also put new air springs. as far as I remember, you could not change any of the automatic settings, I messed around with it, used max height, use min height, and i don't even remember an option for default settings, I had my car perfectly leveled, and then change right rear, and then left rear to desired height using a ruler. (i.e. goes little by little, not specific heights).....hope this helps!

I'm wondering if there is a way to, rather than resetting the default, just eliminate the speed-trigger to raise the vehicle to nominal (middle) setting? As in, is there a way to set to the lowest setting and have it stay there above 20mph rather than automatically raising around that speed?

Thanks!

That is what is being accomplished when you reset the default ride height. I made my default ride height the lower setting.

If you do that then you can STILL use the switch like normal to go lower temporarily then it will go back up after a certain speed. Of course, you can also use the switch to raise it higher temporarily too.

Hi all. Can someone tell me the steps to encode EWS with DIS/GT1.

Jose, I got it connected. I have a feeling it has something to do with my key, or that ring antenna for the key.

So yea, I can't figure out how to code EWS. Short test told me to do it through Programming. Keeps telling me that it was replaced and not encoded (CPO not in my possession). It is possible something was replaced but somehow not coded properly. I am curious if the key I am using is the master one or not.

Someone with some experience with this, please chime in. I would really like to address this issue while I have the GT1. Thanks in advance.

You have to use SSS to code EWS, not GT1.

You cannot do that. The software is set as it is, no way to modify it.

Are you sure. I am pretty sure the native version of the GT1 that TwinsPoppa has can code in general. GT1 is also telling me to program it using the coding programming feAture. The problem is that in the programming section, there are way to many categories and sub categories for me to figure out where to begin.

Unless you are using DIS v4x (v47 if my memory is correct), any version newer than v47 is not able to code modules. I strongly recommed using the latest DIS or SSS (DIS v57 and SSS v41) to diagnose or code your BMW cars to avoid any software conflict. I never use DIS to code modules, only use SSS. According to BMW's instruction, always use the latest software to code/encode/upgrade modules, otherwise you may encounter problems and result in failure, so that the module may become unusable any more.

Crap. Was afraid you might say something like that. I saw somewhere that BMW scanner 1.4.0 might be able to code ews. Anyone have experience with this? What a pain, I have to say. By the way, car won't connect to DIS today yet again. Put it on a trickle charger, so hope it's that.

I use DIS v43 native. IIRC, any DIS version 44 and lower can program/code.

I have a higer version of DIS where its diagnose only and you program/code using SSS. However, it runs through vmware and I don't like it because its finicky and slow.

Also, I've never actually tried to get the yellow diagnostic head to work/connect with SSS. I do know others have. I just personally have not tried or have experience using SSS with it.

SlickGT1, sorry but I can't help you out on the EWS. However, the capability is there with what you have.
