I mean in general, active cruise control has only been available in the US on certain cars starting less than 3 years ago, they had it on a 10+ year old car

Lighting up an old thread - has anyone seen how to add this to an existing e53, or what all is involved?

FUNNY FUNNY, I MEAN THE REAL THING NOT A JIMMY RIGGED OPTION.

The option requires a lot of fabrication. You need to locate the front mounting sensor, control module, etc. And then figure out a way to wire it into the Cruise control system, Abs, and throttle control.

Remember Adaptive Cruise control, controls the brakes and throttle with use of the sensor.

IMHO, it isn't worth it. It is more of a pain in the ass really. Alignment must be tits on PERFECT in order for the system to work properly. I had it in my Audi A6 and if I turned it on 10 times, 7 times the dash would say ACC not Avail! It's either because grime was mucking up the sensor, not allowing the infrared signal to pass through the lens or because my alignment was .01 off. But it is your whip, you want to add it no one is gonna stop you. Just be prepared for the headache and $$$
