Compatible? Shouldn't I just be able to plug the D2S's into the adapters then supply the ballast w/ power by cutting off opr adapting the H7 harness to the D2S plug? I have aftermarket HID's in my 7 where I just plugged my old headlight harness into the new ballast, then from the ballast it goes to the HID's. I figured I could do the same thing, but i'd have to wire them myself unless I found an H7 to whatever harness I needed on the end of the ballast.

So where is the pic at night against the wall so we can see the cutoff? :-)

I just ordered a pair, and they should be here next week!

Ok, mine just came in and I am having the same problem with the AE's. How do I connect them? I have two plugs that are just free with nothing to attach to. All the lights work correctly except the AE's. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2429/...7716438502.jpg

Well if the plugs you refer to are the 2 first pics then the first one is the AE's power and the second one is the ground...if you removed your old headlights yourself you should have at least seen where the second plug goes because the OEM ones have it, at least xenon ones do. They go on the metal base under the low beam (on xenon models this is where the ballast is located) theres a piece of metal that stick up from the base and this is where this goes. As for the first one if your X is US spec you should have that plug, check your old headlight to see if you have that plug over your high beam, if you don't then you need a relay kit to power them. I saw them on ebay for around $20 and the instrucctions are here on the site, it's a DIY job...good luck! |

Here's the other one (It says for E46 but should work for the X) BMW E46 ANGEL EYES/CCFL REMOTE-ON HEADLIGHT WIRING KIT:eBay Motors (item 350250811808 end time Oct-09-09 14:19:50 PDT) |
Ok, great thanks. I bought most of the parts at Pep Boys, but I wasn't sure where to place the relay. Do you know where this connects to? or how to manually wire it? Thanks.

Basic question regarding angel eyes: do the CCFL angel eyes require a ballast? or just this relay harness that Dolphin linked to?
My factory wiring harness has no provisions for angel eyes. What is needed to power them? Is the remote relay harness enough or do you also need a ballast? |
