They all come from the same vendor, but whats unique about the orions are the casing 'magnifies' the LEDs making them appear even brigher.
The price should be about the same or less. Not sure as I was planning on using an OEM set, but it sadly has the new glue that cant be baked open. now i'm looking for another option. I'm probably gona contact Umnitza about the DEPOs soon.. |

I wonder if these are exactly the same but just using LED bulbs (like this and this. If so, they will still give you the five "hot spots" on the AEs. Apart from this, these are genuine DEPO headlights with pretty good quality. |

Here's a shot of the umnitza 60 LED orions using a cheap 2mp camera phone... in the ghosting reflection on the camera's lens (reversed direction) you can see the pattern of the 60 LEDs.

Those actually aren't for me, I was/am helping out another member by doing the install for him, but the headlights he found ended up being new enough to have the unworkable glue... But the rings are as bright as or brighter than the ccfl rings, and with 60 LEDs the ring of light looks pretty continuous. Maybe tomorrow I can hook up a ccfl ring next to a LED ring and take a better pic with the good camera for comparison.

How were you going to install the halos? I know you said they housings weren't bakeable; but if you were to do the install, what was your plan? I had the LED halos installed on the P53's i bought from Umnitza about 6 months back, I ended up sending them back for a bunch of different reasons. But I just basically spliced into my fogs for the halos. There was no ballast since LEDs need so little energy to light. It was a quick and easy approach, but not very "custom." I really didn't like the idea of needing the fogs on if I wanted to show off my halos. When I get these lights, I'd really like to find a way to set the halos up as DRLs. Do you think I can reference the same install instructions as CCFL? |
