Well, that depends on whether I would want any other SUV/SAV. If there was no X5, given the fact that I have a tendency to drive it like I stole it, I might just find myself in an Audi S4 Avant. The Lexus LX and GX are nice but far too heavy and soft. I can't stand the Infiniti "clown shoe" FX and the M-B ML doesn't do a thing for me. I think it's overpriced and unremarkable. The Cayenne is fugly and the interior is very poor quality unless you spring big bucks for the premium interior with full leather.

I've never heard nor considered an SUV to be a mid-life crisis mobile. As far as one being trendy, didn't that end in 2001? There is a lot of SUV hate on the west coast.

I don't like the Pathfinders much.. If you're going for a Nissan, go for an Armada. My friend's dad has one and I drove it. It's REALLY easy to maneuver, which is surprising considering how huge it is. It's got some good power, too! It's a 5.6L V8 I was very impressed, overall.

My guess is that it's more to do with the driving conditions it faces on a daily basis. I live on a narrow gravel road (with huge stones, potholes, ruts, etc.) and on top of a steep hill.. All that dust can't be good for the engine. Also, it has to deal with winters in NH...

Maybe part of it is my driving :D

The good thing about this thread is ....There is an X5...and we dont have to worry about what else we would drive. Long live the X5...and lets pray that Bangel does not screw the new one up too bad.
