Dude, That looks awesome! I think I like that better than the full black grilles, nicely done! I'm going to have to show my GF this...
What did you use to paint them Blue?

BTW where in south Jesey are you? We're going to be putting something together in the area this summer on another forum... it would be nice to have a couple of X5 there too...

Thanks man! I used a spray can of Lemans Blue I got online a while back followed by several coats of clear. I got it off eBay, but there are a bunch of other sites you can get it from. Tower paint is one off the top of my head.

I'm in Haddon Township, basically 5 minutes from Cherry Hill. I'd definitely be interested in getting together, what's the other forum?

It looks like it matches pretty good for a spray can...

The other forum is ZHP Mafia.com. It was started about a year and a half ago after some other sites started getting too annoying... a great bunch of guys & gals over there and there are a lot of members in the tri-state area...
Yea, Yiou are relly close, we'll definitely have to get together. I'll send you a PM...

Purchasing a beast

Well guy's I'm still in the market for a e53 4.6 or 4.8. I am debating purchasing a beast with lower miles 40,000-70,000 or one with 100,000 plus. One with new transmission and front suspension Refresh at over 100,000 miles sounds good. The lower mile models will more likely fail at any time. I always purchased cars with lower miles. Insurance screwed me with my last super low mileage car. Totaled dont think it worth paying the premium price for low miles anymore. What do you guys think. By the way, Does the e53 have need the cooling overhaul like the e39 v8's? Any other big ticket items to watch out for. Thanks

Mileage aside, recommend replacing rubber and/or plastic bits if dryrot and/or brittleness is observed. Good luck in your hunt!

Sockethead - did you do all the suspension work yourself? Based on your name I assume you are mechanically inclined. Would you say this could be a DIY for someone that has some experience working on cars (not an X5) and with the aid of TIS? Thank You.
