That looks like a slick setup Breyton, thanks for the pictures. I'm totally convinced that it's the setup for me, including the 726s. I'm curious what length aero crossbars you have on, 43" or 47"?

I have the 53" which is perfect.

Longer than I would have thought. You're right though, the length does look perfect. How easy are the 450R feet to install? Are we talking about a couple of minutes or quite awhile having to line it all up?

Rangerfan, I didn't know Thule had made Aero bars until recently, which feet do you have on your Thule setup?

Very easy....all you have to do is slide the feet underneath the bars and then align them. Takes a couple minutes.

Thule has always had the aero bars for the European market and for a brief time over here in N. America but they discontinued it until now. Rangerfan has the integrated system where the aero bars are attached permanently to the feet...a bit easier to install and remove.

I saw a 2005 Dark Green with them today and I was trying to talk to him but he didn't really want to pull over at 85 mph on the highway. They didn't match anything else on the car. That's what I'm afraid of. There is no other brushed aluminum on my car unless I get some running boads...

If you like the black look, you can always get the regular "non-aero" type crossbar. If you still don't like the look of the Thule aluminum snowboard/ski carrier, you can always get the Yakima's all-black carrier, which still will work with the Thule's crossbar.

ok, bringing this thread back from the dead....now that it's nearly winter time,

i too will be switching over to the thule racks, but what size crossbars do i need to get....50", 58", or 65"....i've seen several X5's where the thule crossbars seems like they come out past the edge of the roof but wouldn't want it to come out that much further

i know what you saying..go out and measure your roof! haha...my car is in the shop so can't at the moment

The bar shown in the picture above is the standard 58" bar with 4" cut-off, which makes it a 54" and it is flush with the top of the roof. Without the cut, the 58" will stick out a bit. The 50" bar would be too short.

If you go here, you can use the interactive fit guides (right side of the page), that will take you step by step through the parts you need for whatever you want to do (skis, boards, bikes, whatever).
