X5 2004 Non Nav Stock Amp Remote "ON" Question?

Can someone please point me in the right direction on how to remotely turn on the stock amp from the dash harness.

I got one those harness kits and it says the White Wire is the Remote On, but when I put power to it, nothing happens.

Amp is not on as far as I can tell. I have sound going from my Carputer sounds outs to the harness.

Help me please :dunno:

Premium Sir. Yes, I am hooking up my Carputer up. I am just getting the wiring sorted before mounting up the Touchscreen and PC.

I am wondering if the other set of wires on the stock harness plug aren't being touched by the Harness Adapter I bought from Metra have anything to do with it.

You can see in the first pic that the lower row with a black and a white pug aren't being used in the adapter.

Second pic goes to the lower portion of the stock stereo

It has been years since the install, but to turn your new aftermarket radio, you have to tap into a fuse in the glovebox, that will be your remote turn on. You can use a test light to see which fuse gets power with car on and off, I want to say its the windshield wiper ones that was used 15 or 10amp fuse...but the white wire in the back off the dsp amp i used to jump to power my two aftermarket amps, i never used my oem amp. I hope this helps.

Hello,

It's not the Carputer that is having the problem turning off and on via the ignition.

It's the Stock Amp that I can't get to turn on. Eventhough I am sending 12 volts to the Remote Turn-on amp wire on the harness.

was the amp working before, was there recent rain, did u check fuses in the back passenger side for the radio to make sure...just throwing some things out there, my dsp amp got wet, and when it dried it came back on....then a few more times of this and it died on me.

Amp works perfect. I just put the original stereo and cd player back in so my wife can listen to the radio tomorrow.
