My wife had mentioned quite a few times that guys always stare at her X5 at the lights. Mostly in the summer after I put on the HRE's.

I had a guy park next to my 330xi and wait for me to come out of a Safeway so that he could ask me about my mods. It was funny because I think he waited for at least 30 minutes and the Safeway was closing so we were the only 2 cars in the parking lot. If he wasn't also driving a BMW I would have been a bit worried as I walked up to my car.

One word Laura - stalker!

Most of the comments I get are at the service station when people see how much fuel it takes to fill it up!

But I also got alot of positive comments from people after 1500km and 3 days of mostly gravel roads following the WRC rally. Many people don't realise the performance that the X5 is capable of :-)

Nobody ever says a thing,

Well, these are very nice...I wish I had some to share with mine, but alas, I do not.

HOWEVER, apparently, I'm driving the wrong motor carriage. At the recent Mt. Laurel event, I had a chance to drive L's beast, or T-re(X) for short. I only drove her for a half a mile, and got to a stop light. What do I see accross from me, but a beautiful X5 E70 with the sports package, 20", etc...He crosses over the road I'm on, and gives me the . So he was driving my auto (or simliar) and gave me the  while driving L's T-reX.

Here in SoCal, the 4.8is gets "buried" by the 3.0's and 4.4's running around town. Laymen are so used to seeing the X5 that I'm sure they won't know the difference.

yeah that's the problem!!!!!!
I become angry when people see a prefacelift x5 that has a 4.8 badge and say: oh look it is a 4.8,it's faster than yours (4.4)
or an x5 that has a BIG m5 or m6 badge with 3.0 on the side and say that it has a v10 engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never had it happen in the 9 years I've driven X5s. If anything I get derogatory comments from Landy drivers for not having a "proper 4x4".

Okay, I finally asked my wife about this and she says she gets compliments frequently. Examples would be just after it gets out the carwash or she's in the parking lot.

I need to borrow the X more often by making up something like "oh, I got to troubleshoot some problem". :D
