After having this job done successfully on my 2001 X5, my understanding is that this job CANNOT be done without dealership help. I believe twinspoppa did it with his GT1, but he did it with the help of Killcrap on this board.

Nope! There are indy's that can do it. Most BMW dealers can't do it without BMWNA giving them the Ibac code and disc(USB File). There are other ways to do it and there are indys that can do it. You have to ask around and find the smart ones.

Wow, that is good news! No indy's in my area ,nor Kansas City or St. Louis felt confident that they could do it.

Actually, Justin did it with killcrap's help. ;) He had to get some codes from killcrap.

I'm still curious why people don't just do the jumper thing - seems the simplest solution but maybe I'm missing something. :dunno:
