There's no way to accurately calculate improvement from changing to lower gear ratios. I might get a tenth. The primary reason I am making the change is to improve the launch. Most of what I do is from a stoplight. Another reason was to lower the stress on the driveline and transmission.. |

I will do a few after I install two stage nitrous system primarily to adjust the flow of the meth injection so I make sure I don't have a lean condition. Nitrous and lean condition is high risk. The two don't play well together. |
Got quite a bit done for the ole' girl this month. New water pump, new pullies and belts, oil change, control arms, el cheapo ebay special LED angel eyes....and my favorite change......DWS's all around, holy smooth ride batman (after coming off pirelli studless snows)
Purrs like a kitten! http://i.imgur.com/d3mobkr.jpg?2 Oh and anxiously awaiting the arrival of my ebay "auto open" hatch lid springs which should be here any day now |
Left rear window regulator. Anyone else accidentally hit the rear window when they go to lower their drivers? The button gets me every time. This time, headed down the highway to our plant in PA, halfway through my trip... Hit the button... crunch.
Window fell down, wouldn't go back up. Had to pull over, use needle nose to grab and pull the window up and wedge something in the track so it'd stay up and I could make it to where I was going. Called BavAuto and Otto being the man, overnighted me a new regulator, and a dozen door panel clips. Had a local indy down here do the work as a walk in customer - highly recommend them! The job was super easy, but not something you want to do in a hotel parking lot, when it's 5ºF out. Bavarian Select Mechanicsburg, PA http://i.imgur.com/8ws3kZX.jpg?1 |
Did the Vanos Seal replacement and repair on my 4.6is. Installed new chain rail guides and cam tensioner guides. The vanos seals were definitely defective hard and crumbly and the cam tensioner guides definitely had wear marks in them. Next up rebuilding of the engine front.

Were you concerned about replacing the seals DIY verses getting rebuilt ones from Dr. Vanos? |

When you say the time guides do you mean the time to replace or the difficulty. The timing guides replacement does not take long (a 5 on 1-10 scale). It took more time loosening the crank bolt on the bottom of the engine to remove the lower timing cover. Tip on doing this get a 3/4 inch drive 27mm socket with a 3/4 inch drive breaker bar. Attach a jack handle pipe to the breaker for ultimate leverage and the bolt will turn loose. |
Annual Oil and Filter change. I hit 5,000 miles on that oil. Must be a new record.:bustingup
