Yes, the plastic anchors (the ones in the bag) were included with the front carpet kit.

Ah ah, you're pushing me toward winter :bustingup I check the weather every night to see if I can still run on the 20s and postpone the installation of the winter tires and winter mats.

Since I was curious also to see the fitment, I installed one carpet on the driver side. It fits real well. On the pictures, I left the metal retainers (for summer carpets) installed. They don't interfere with the installation. If you prefer, for esthetic reasons to remove them, it's just one bolt each to remove them. In my case they are very visible since my seat is moved backward a lot (long legs), but in other cases, they may be less visible.

Got the mats yesterday! they look great!

Problem I have is my factory anchors are not the twist (90° lock) type but screwed in (like having a thread). So my anchors are flimsy and dont really lock the mats in place. Also, the passenger holes dont align to the mats

@TurboBimmer - where did you get your metal anchors?

ATTN: ECS - is there an alternative anchor available?

Well I have the Securing Hardware Kit found HERE which might work. But the best thing I've found for holding down floor mat, speaker boxes, small children, etc is good old carpet tape. A couple small strips on the bottom of the mat and it's not moving.

incidentally, I ordered a set of that exact kit for my other BMW together with the mats. My problem is the anchors (like the one above) operate on a 90° lock. while the factory velcro pads are screwed on to my floors (like a screw thread). I can post a picture later if it helps to get my point across

I see what you mean now by 90° lock. I'll put one of my parts guys on digging and seeing if he can find some different type ones. In the mean time I'd toss some carpet tape on the back of them, it's cheap and holding down several of the guys in the offices floor mats.

I've been dealing with this same issue. The metal anchors attach to the seat rails and line up with the OE summer mats...so they won't work for the OE rubber mats. The screw-in anchors are for situations where no anchor hole is provided and you have to drill your own hole...so they are not the right solution for the e53. Only 2 solutions are the hook or velcro anchors with the twist-lock (T shaped) end that goes into the existing holes. I went to my local dealer and they located some spare velcro type anchors hanging about so I got them free. They work great so far.

I'm only using them on the driver side as it gets more use and is the potential safety issue. I find the passenger side mat stays pretty much in place w/o need for an anchor system.

Incidentally, MacNeil Weathertech sells the t-lock anchor with the hook for their mats. Unfortunately they wouldn't agree to sell them separately. That's why I went to the dealer who ended up helping me out. I believe you can buy the velcro t-lock anchors separately from the dealer if you need them.
