I've been dealing with this same issue. The metal anchors attach to the seat rails and line up with the OE summer mats...so they won't work for the OE rubber mats. The screw-in anchors are for situations where no anchor hole is provided and you have to drill your own hole...so they are not the right solution for the e53. Only 2 solutions are the hook or velcro anchors with the twist-lock (T shaped) end that goes into the existing holes. I went to my local dealer and they located some spare velcro type anchors hanging about so I got them free. They work great so far.

I'm only using them on the driver side as it gets more use and is the potential safety issue. I find the passenger side mat stays pretty much in place w/o need for an anchor system.

Incidentally, MacNeil Weathertech sells the t-lock anchor with the hook for their mats. Unfortunately they wouldn't agree to sell them separately. That's why I went to the dealer who ended up helping me out. I believe you can buy the velcro t-lock anchors separately from the dealer if you need them.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like the solution they gave you was the same anchor but with a velcro bottom (right?) so I could just essentially cut the T locks and glue the MacNeil anchors I have to the factory velcro screw pads and call it a day

Ill wait and see if ECS has a solution for me...

Drove the X today and the mats didnt move. But it would be good to know that theyre properly locked and wont in anyway curl up underneath the brake pedal since this is the wifes daily driver

Here's a pic of them installed that I found (not mine). You can see the round velcro anchor in the floor. It is locked in place using the twist-loc or "T"
mechanism for our e53. The other side is a peel/stick adhesive with the "fuzzy" velcro attached to the mat. Works fine and is slightly easier to attach or detach vs the hook system.

Theres an idea! The underside of the mats unfortunately is not flat. BUt it can probably still work. We'll see... Thanks

@TurboBimmer - where did you get your metal anchors?

The metal anchors were stock equipment with the velour carpets. I tried to find them in realoem.com but had no luck.

You have the same mats as me. There should be a flat, round area about 2" in diameter right around the holes on the underside of the mats. That's where the round Velcro section can be attached to.
