OP never asked about how to get back in, so, this procedure does exactly what the OP asked for - locks him out of the car.

Oops! I got it backasswards. I guess you can't lock it with the door lock either when the engine is running.

when you push the button on the central console while the engine is running, all your doors lock (single locking, not double locking, the fuel door is still unlocked) when you unlock the hatch, the other 4 doors are still locked... engine running... you fall out the back of the truck... shut the trunk... voila!!!

engine running, all four doors are locked, the hatch is locked too, as it relocks after the hatch is shut...

Why in the heck would someone want to do this???

To ghost ride the whip and put it on youtube labeled "X5 totaled after ghost ridin' da whip. Couldn't unlock doors"

LOOOL ... I was happily reading your comments guys.

I've updated the thread to clarify my intention.

All right, so your best bet and cheapest route would be to use two keys. Leave one in the ignition and the spare to manually lock and unlock the X.

Other way is the use of a turbo timer. This way you just carry one key, but keeps the X running for a certain amount of time.

I'm gonna assume that works about as good a takin' a squirt on a 5 alarm fire.

My audi has that and when it is over 100, its still balls hot.

gotta move to a cold country, somewhere in Finland - when it is cold outside, and you are running a heater, when you jump outside for a quick errand, you just hit "REST" or the "MAX" on the newer cars, and the car stay heated inside with engine off...

BMW makes COLD COUNTRY PACKAGE and HOT COUNTRY PACKAGE... wonder, what those entail - special glazing on the glass for hot and some additional auxialary heaters for cold? like engine warmers by Webasto???
