I suggest you let the adjust and the body shop deal together...IMO.
The body shop knows exactly what needs to be done and how much of their time it will take to make it right. Don't let the adjuster do the figuring it out.

Let the shop and the adjust work it out...

Thats not how Texas Auto Insurance works.
The adjuster is going to look at the damage and give me a figure. If I want I can take the cash and do whatever I want with it. I can then take that figure to any body shop I want and have them repair it and they will contact the insurance agency to let them know they low balled the figure, on purpose, and they will need more money to correct this to preaccident condition.

Insurance companies are throwing about 60-70% of the actual cost out there in hopes people take the wad of cash and they win.

Isnt this something your insurance can claim in your behalf against the city?

No, that is not a possibility. How is it the cities fault? That would need to be proven. It was dropped out of an unknown vehicle.

correct! same way potholes are not heaven sent.

If you claim a hood feel off a truck and hit your car - no dice. At some point the city begins to be liable if the hood is still flying around in the freeway causing damage to other vehicles.

I am not sure if the city or another government body is responsible for the freeways (similar to how the local city's jurisdiction covers all city streets except the freeways) so that has to be checked. Since the OP has comprehensive insurance, Im sure they will look into it so they can make a claim in his behalf

Sorry to hear it.

Maybe you could do a few upgrades with the insurance money... 4.6 front bumper, Depo headlights, 4.8 front fender flares...

On the subject of Depo Headlights.

Anyone have a URL to Depo light that I could pass on to the shop?

I recently used Stuart's body shop (not for work on the X). They were great about working with the insurance company to do do a proper repair and include some other small stuff that I wanted. The paint match was excellent. They work with a lot of high end cars, especially Porsches--just in case you are interested in a second estimate.

Thank you, appreciate the recommendation. I use AutHans in Addison for repairs that I do not feel comfortable with doing myself. So I called Alex at AutoHans about body repair and they use Details Ltd. in Addison. I took it there yesterday and they are doing OEM replacement for all parts.

I am going to work with them on the headlamp replacement for an upgrade before we are all finished.
