Cost of repair with all OEM parts is $7000. Allstate is willing to pay $4100 with it being totaled, sans salvaged title. Then I would have to cover the difference or compromise on part cost. So pay the additional 2900 to repair a vehicle with 230,000 miles on it. The Transmission is going to go soon, but no one at allstate needs to know that. Option 2: I salvage the vehicle with Allstate and they will give me $7800, I finally talked them up from $6,300 after they checked out pictures of the rest of the vehicle. I am taking the almost 8k and using as a down payment on a newer vehicle and I am not going to route of the x5 this time. Owning and maintaining an x5 for 8 years was fun. Thanks for all your help here. |
Good luck friend! I'd say almost 8k on a vehicle that is 12 years old and 230k miles is not a bad deal! Go get an E70 lol!

$8k is a great number, props to Allstate.
8 years with your X is good run, I can see why you are ready to move on. 230k is a ton of miles... The truck lived a proper life. Good luck on your search and be sure to post what you end up buying. |
Glad it worked out for you! Classic usually has a few certified cars, still covered with BMW warranty. Guy I used to deal with went into the real estate business but my experience has been that I am able to negotiate to reasonable prices.

As its already been said; best of luck on your next vehicle.
