That is most definitely from bulbs.

Even if you get a set of used Philips from HIDP with a decent amount of hours for like 20 bucks, would be better to tune the projectors with. Right now you're tuning OEM projectors with aftermarket bulbs so it's slightly negating your work.

I got a brilliant idea then...

I'm stealing the bulbs from my mom's X6 once she gets home. :nanana:

Whoops, forgot to update this. I manage to level out the projectors the best I can. It may be off past 40 feet, but it is definitely alright up to 35 feet.

I've found these COB LED angel eyes. They don't have the yellow coating on them, so they seem to be the newer versions. Plus, they are only $25 a pair. I'm going to snip the clips off my lenses to make removing them easier; the butyl glue is what mainly holds the lens on anyway, not the clips.

The angel eyes I sent you run on 12v and don't need to hide any inverters (or replace them when they die)

Those are SMD rings with a diffuser as well, not sure if we are looking at the same link, but they are 3528 LED's and yes there is a yellow coating on each individual one as is normal.

Those are not COB.

They look like lower quality versions of the ones I sent you, if you can get away from inverters it would be much more reliable

Man, I shouldn't look at car parts when I'm tired. Yep, the HIDP guys told me the same thing. No real affordable way to get new rings IMO.

I showed you an affordable way pages back, 2 sets with no inverters which are SMD LED and are $80 for both sets you need.

You're ready to pull the trigger on an older tech set for $50, lol is the $30 that much of a big deal?

Alright. I've put this on break as I've run into some misfortune with angel eyes.

I went ahead and bought 145mm rings for the headlights. They are almost big enough to fit properly in the high beam opening, but a complete ring will hit the top of the housing. However, I broke the CCFL tube while being careless. There is no way 140mm would fit and look right in this situation.

I'm going to order 146mm angel eyes that are semi-circles in hopes that they will fit better.

Ricky Bobby 07-04-2014 09:29 AM

Which rings did you buy?

I'm fairly certain some light trimming of the housing with a dremel is needed when fitting new angel eyes.

As you can see, 145mm is nearly identical to the original ring. It doesn't fit in the holder at the top perfectly, and is way too tall being a full ring. I don't think 140mm is the solution.

I bought this ring. X1 CCFL Angel Eye Kit Halo Ring Inverter 145mm 5 71 in White Blue Green Purple | eBay I'm glad I only paid $13.50 for them, but it was also the wrong choice since it didn't fit 100%. Now I've got to save up some more before I get 146mm semi-circle rings.
