Surprised at the 20" will hurt the TC and Trans comments. Won't hurt anymore than rolling around with a 200lb load in the vehicle... which doesn't bother an X5.

electricalserv x5... I said in my post that the one in the pic is not mine... I have a 4.4i and didn't notice a significant power loss. Granted I don't drive this thing like my BMW coupes either. And adding 10-20lbs per wheel/tire is not going to hurt anything... except mileage and acceleration.

Guys, I like OEM wheels as much as the next guy... but to get a set of OE 20" staggered wheels for these things is ridiculous. I'm talking for the e70 styles not the e53 style 20's. Would cost a third of the value of the vehicle to even buy a good used set. Pnoyako85 has been selling sets for $3000+. There is nothing wrong with hubcentric rings... they don't introduce vibe, their sole purpose is to make it easier to install and uninstall your wheel. The lugs will do the centering. I know... I'm currently running without rings. Though next time I rotate I will put them on.

OP, I'll try to get pics of my X5 as I think it looks pretty slick... the newer style wheels really help to modernize the vehicle.

Agree with you here the the oe definitely is heavier wheels hence why i like aftermarket wheels since i havemore option on changing them and making different. Imho

I am laughing at the posts saying not to get 20" wheels on the 3.0 because of the "acceleration decrease", hilarious.

As if the 3.0 is a hugely powerful vehicle to begin with? Get what looks good, any performance loss on the 3.0 is negligible because there isn't a ton to start with, these aren't Porsche's people.

Been running 20" staggered 168's for 2.5 years now and haven't looked back, the looks alone changed the vehicle 10x over. I also have the stick which helps with my acceleration but I wouldn't hesitate to put 20" staggered wheels on any E53.

The acceleration decrease was very noticable when I had my 20's on but you get used to it

Oh I'm not saying it wasn't noticeable at all but considering the improved and updated looks I wasn't complaining one bit, it just made an average accelerating 3 ton SAV a little more average.

Again my experience is with an MT so it is less noticeable to me than the drag of the AT.

Yea I didn't care either

Here are some pics of my setup that I posted before... but not on my car. Nice setup imho and really helps to modernize the e53 chassis. Get lots of compliments on them at any rate. ;) 20x9.5 front and 20x10.5 rears. 285's up front and 315's in the rear for tires.

I like them! any reason why you went with 285 up front?factory is 275 on a 9.5 inch wheel.
You forgot to put it in "entry mode" or picture mode:cool:
I suspect you have EHCII?

I agree. Newer style rims helps to modernize the e53 chassis. I have Style 214 and I think it makes my E53 more modern.
