I may have to check out tomkinsonbmwparts.com!
Needing to order a few things for the X like water pump and transmission filter and gasket. After that I think I should be good. Well after I finally get around to replacing the valve seals that is. Hopefully I can start on it this weekend. Trying to clean out a spot in the garage to do that! First priority! |
Wanted to catch this thread before it fell back too many pages to include a good list of popular/reliable parts vendors (applicable to more than just the E53). I've bought parts from a great number of them over the years and have had good luck with almost all of them. Personally, I find myself using BMA Parts, FCP Euro, and The BMW/MINI Part Store for good prices and fast shipping. +1 on Tomkinson BMW, as well.

There's a link in my signature to read the forum announcement about the tool, as well. Hope this helps! |
BMW of Morristown and Circle BMW are the absolute least expensive dealers with trade motion sites. Shipping of course can swing this if you are in California for instance since these dealers are in New Jersey.

PartsGeek sucks too! I ordered Honda Centric rotors (image on their website showed E-coated hats in black), and Centric Carbon ceramic pads. They sent me C-Tec pads and rotors, uncoated no less! |
If I'm not in a hurry, I'll often go with Pelicanparts or AutohausAZ. They ship from farther away and I'm in the midwest. I like the additional part suggestions that Pelicanparts adds as it might help me catch on o-ring or gasket I should be ordering and/or bring up small nuts and bolts that I normally wouldn't order, but I'll add them to my cart if they are cheap.
Also, +1 on my local BMW dealership (BMW Minnetonka). Sometimes they'll beat the online guys, provide the best quality OE part, and sometimes have the parts in-stock. Always worth a check. Need to have CCA membership or order online for will-call. Feel sorry for the folks who just walk up to the counter and pay full price. |
ECS Tuning is my go to.
Their customer service has always been good to me, prices are cheap, and the free shipping is always nice. |
RockAuto.com review
I have used RockAuto as it is nothing more than a webportal into approx 5-6 Warehouse Distributors around the USA. Parts- stay with brand names and you should be good. If someone (a parts picker) substitutes a different/wrong part call their 800 number and they will ship a replacement at no charge to you. In the 30-40 orders I have done with them, only once was a part incorrect. Brands- all kinds Bosch, NTK, Mann, etc for BMW (the selections run from great - ok - and real cheap) Welcome to world sourcing aka Beck Arley. Good source for Domestic car parts as well. I have ordered shocks, gaskets, tune up parts (plugs wires etc) No, i do not own stock or any interest in this company. Having worked in the auto aftermarket for 20+ years, I can spot a good value and this company does a good job. Yes there are lots of options, choose one or two that work for you and your area. |
I have used all of the following with GREAT results.
Bavarian Autosport Bimmerparts Bimmerzone BMW of Fairfax ECS Tuning eEuroparts FCP Euro Get BMW Parts Pelican Parts RockAuto Turner Motorsport I think I have given BMW of Fairfax approx $3K over this past year. |
