Rear tires on the front ?

Thanks bcredliner.

The bilsteins I'm getting are part of a kit developed with Eibach. Look up bilstein b12, kit coming from Germany. I'm hoping it won't be as harsh as the HDs. I also scored a brand new Whiteline RSB on fleabay last night for $100, so it will be interesting to compare notes once it's all in. Think I will do sway bar first.

Tyres are a mismatch of what was on the car when I got it (Yokohama Advan) and what was on the second set of rims (iota....never heard of them). I'll wear them out then look at something decent.

Already the car handles fine for what I would put it through (remember, mine is a diesel) but aside from the sway bar, all the parts had to come out and be replaced anyway - so why not upgrade I figured. Cost is roughly the same.

I couldn't find a B12 pro kit offering for the X5 on the U.S. site, only cars. Am interested in learning about it. Do you have a link?

I had a set of Advans. Quiet tire, fairly soft rubber, got about 12,000 out of the rears.

As far as sway bars- I drove some with only the front changed just to see how much the back added. The front bar was most of the improvement. How much does your X5 weigh?

Since there is no complete kit offered and I couldn't find anyone that I felt had verification of what did or didn't work best I decided to plan it out and take one step at a time so I could always confirm what I did either improved or hurt the handling.

Eibach Bilstein B12 Sportfahrwerk PRO KIT BMW X5 E53 | eBay

That's the link to auction, you'lll need to translate.

Or here is an english version but with not a lot of detail.

BMW X5 (E53) 3.0 D Bilstein B12 Pro Kit Suspension Kit 46-189530 Only £875.33

But overall, the concept of the B12 Pro-Kit is the same. Match the valving to the springs. I'm guessing the reason that they don't have a listing on the US site is because you guys had SLS on the rear for almost all models.

In Australia, we had coil and shocks for all four corners on 3.0, 3.0D and optional air sus on 4.4i, standard on 4.8is. So I'll be replacing four shocks and springs, like-for-like, no air suspension to convert in the rear.

Car weighs around 4700lbs or 2130kg

Am interested to here what you think of the difference.

I do have rear airbags. I was concerned they wouldn't work well with rest of changes but that wasn't the case. I did make better and more adjustable links than what came with the H&R lowering kit.

As it should. :) Less understeer = happy day. Did you know that Dinan tried this setup?

Don't worry too much about the front slinging stuff on regular roads. After 50k miles on front 315's I do not notice paint damage on the lower part of the front doors.

BTW, replied to your PM.

What was the result of the Dinan setup? Am interested since rear tires wear so much faster I could move them to the front and balance wear.

Don't really understand the comment about 'tire availability'?

How about 20x11 e70 wheels in the front?
