Rear tires on the front ?
 
This is for a 01 BMW x5 4.4i Silly question but I know of a guy who but rear type 87 rims on the front for more grip, would I be able to do that with style 215 OEM rims ? Like put a pair of rear ones at the front ? Also considering they are 325/30/r21 would they even fit ? Without any modifications ?

If your still at stock height im pretty sure theres zero clearance issues to worry about.

yes, someone else on this board did this, and it looks sensational, but may put extra wear adn tear on the steering parts as its more rubber to turn

I just picked up a second set of style 168s and plan to run a set of 315s up front - 30mm spacers on the rear.

Pros are ability to swap tyres front to back, no need for spacers up front, looks tough.

Cons are cost, tramlining, and wear on P/s components as stated.

Would 325s up front be a pain to steer ? And also what are these spacers everyone talks about for the tears ? Like what are 20 or 50 mm spacers for the back ?

They will require more steering input at low speed, round car parks etc.

Spacers are literally as they sound, donut shaped pieces of alloy that sit between the wheel hub and the wheel itself that space or 'push' the wheel out further. Makes the track of the car wider, people do it mostly for cosmetic reasons to give the car a more aggressive stance but sometimes they're also used to clear big brake kits, or to overcome incorrectly fitting wheels that would otherwise foul on suspension components or brake calipers.

If you scroll up, you'll see the sig pictures that 4.8isX5 has - that's an example of spacers.

If you were going to put 325s on the front, you'd want to space the rears out so that the track width increases similarly front to back. Too much track increase on the front can cause erratic handling, in extreme cases it can cause snap oversteer. Plus it will just look weird.

Dont Do it?..i don't see a point to that one ..maybe 315's like Belknap but not 325

325 is the standard width on the Style 215's - they're an 11.5 x 21 inch rim.

I am kicking the idea around about running a set of style 63's ( 4 fronts ) with 275/40/19's .. I think that will give me a nice ride and fit with no issues, plus allow me to rotate to get back some miles between new tires!
