So I got the module took the manifold off again. What a pain to get to the glow plug control module. Its sitting below one of the coolant lines which feeds the block. There are three 10mm bolts holding the pipe to the block and once you remove it, coolant gushes out, so be prepared to add coolant if you plan on replacing your module.

The module itself is held to the block by two 10mm nuts. There are two plugs which must be unclipped and removed and one of the wire leads is very short, so there isn't much room for maneuvering to unclip the leads.

I managed to change the control module (no more check engine light YAY!!), but now I have to wait till tomorrow morning to buy blue coolant from BMW. I believe that the bleeding system is different with the 35D since its a mechanical water pump.

Good plan

As with oil and most fluids, never mix fluids. Chemistry in different brands can vary, leading to who knows what.
