Carly Adapter/App led to FRM Module failure
Just got Carly adapter along with the app. After some light coding on FRM Module (footwell lighting) module doesn't respond and as mentioned by numerous owners lights/windows don't work. Lighting system malfunction error also present.
Could this be related directly to Carly? Anyone experienced similar after using this app? Or its simply coincidence.... 2010 X5 35D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Disconnect the battery for an hour and re-test.

Disconnect the battery and touch the cables together for 30 seconds.
One of the problems everyone needs to be aware of when coding any modules is either have the vehicle running or best to have a battery charger on the vehicle keeping the terminal Voltage around 14 Volt or risk problems. Even then there can be an occasional problem. |
... And in fact that is exactly the advice published by CARLY in their app (to keep the car running while performing any module coding).

Going to try that today. Thanks guys!
Btw car was running while been coded and battery was 14.5V Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I use CARLY for BMW on my 2012 X5 35d with no problems evident.
In the garage, while studying the app's capabilities, I use a battery booster that shows more than 20 Amps with all electrical systems enabled. On the road it is unobtrusive and troublefree except for not yet being able to initiate preemptive DPF regeneration. |
You guys are crazy using a Bluetooth or wireless adapter to program the car....just another complexity which is not necessary. These modules are big $$$ if they get bricked, not to mention the cost of the dealer reprogramming them.
I would be very, very careful using anything bluetooth or wireless for programming the car. Use a cable! Chris |

my FRM got bricked by having it coded the normal way...... it can happen regardless.
thankfully mine was covered under CPO |
No, it is not the fault of the adapter or Carly.
8/2011 xDrive35d FRM problems: http://www.xoutpost.com/showthread.php?t=99524 Since replacement, I've coded over a dozen times, FRM too. These problems can occur with this type of programming using any means. |
