I disabled my TPMS as well. Mines was definitely the white box under the steering column area. Very easy. Mines an 02/2009 3.0si.

Sorry to revive an old thread. I sent heatmizr a private message but I am wondering what the exhaust ground strap has to do with this? I was planning on replacing the module. I have a new ground strap too because I noticed it was broken.

Hey Steve, got your message. I had to re-read the thread to recall how it all went...
When I kept getting that error message, my dealer had replaced my small module I posted a pic of (rear frame rail ahead of muffler) to no avail. Later, I had all new sensors put in all wheels, which PRESUMABLY fixed it.

The reason I say PRESUMABLY is that I had this grounding / interference strap on the muffler replaced at the same time as the 4 new sensors in the wheels... So I cannot prove it was the new sensors that fixed the issue because of this variable. So when 740is posted a separate thread looking for the cause of his issue, I sent him info on this strap as a possibility to look into, as I thought it was possible that when broken it might be causing some issue with my TPMS signals.

Again, I assume it was just replacing my 4 wheel sensors that did the trick, but...
[One note - I didn't notice any radio (or other) interference before the strap was replaced, or any improvement to anything afterward... so who knows what it really does.]

Thank you! I appreciate you being there to answer this question.
I have a new strap to throw on there, 4 new sensors and a new module coming.
I hate warning lights!

My pleasure!
Say, one nice little bonus would be for you to prove that the strap does Not impact this issue. You could do this by installing all your other components and seeing if the light goes out, before installing the strap.
Let us know!

On my '08 I replaced all of the sensors in the wheels the "antenna" under the drivers side and the "receivers" in all four wheel wells. The only thing I didn't replace was the control module under the dash. But I continued to have the errors occur. Ended up getting my 2013 and selling my 2008. So I can't say what the final repair would have been.

Converting the system via programming as was discussed earlier in this thread, would have been my next step had I kept the vehicle.

Will do!

Ok... well I installed the new RDC. The ground strap didn't do anything TPMS related. I bought a new RDC from BMW. As expected, I still get "TPMS MALFUNCTION" because I haven't coded it. I have an NT510 so I am limited there. I thought I would check the fuse, because the inside of the RDC was quite corroded and I just wanted to make sure it's not shorted out. I am having a hard time finding the fuse. All my resources say to look for fuse 7 but I don't have a fuse there. Is that for the more advanced system?
