I go to Morristown - I will def reach out to my service guy over there, what mileage did yours fail again and you have a diesel right?

Edit I just read yours again - I worry about my wifes because of the torque - 465 ft lbs is a lot of torque on that drive shaft -

The recall is expected to begin April 24, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Received my letter yesterday, 4/24/17.

Got the recall letter yesterday. It said "remedy unavailable".

Does that mean driveshafts that were replaced under inspect-replace extended warranty still have a badly designed part?

I got my letter yesterday and it states Remedy Available. I need to book her in with BMW Seattle. Now, if only they could get the airbags sorted.

How could this be? Does it depend on a nearby dealership having item in stock?

I emailed SA at BMW Northwest. He said my "remedy UNavailable" text is due to out of stock. Said BMW will send letter when one becomes available. That made no sense as items in stock don't become available instantly everywhere.

I still haven't received a later so I started to investigate. I first went to BMWNA site to look up recalls by VIN number and that's where it stopped. BMWNA could not recognize my VIN number...I knew the previous owner was military and bought through BMW military sales. Vehicle was imported back into the US from UK in Sept 2014. Apparently the previous owner forgot to do the BMW Warranty Validation paperwork upon return to US. So now, I have to do the paperwork so BMWNA recognizes the VIN number in their system. Process will take at least 2 weeks, and then I'll be able to look up recalls along with receiving the letter for front driveshaft/airbag

Mine says "Remedy Available" too. I'm in PA.

Why on Gods green earth is my wifes 35D not on this recall when I look it up by VIN on BMW? When it was increased to encompass more E70's -

She is a May 2013 build and the cutoff is April 2013 - really? They were only produced until June, I find it hard to believe they fixed the issue in May since they weren't even aware of it then -

The issue was isolated to a certain run of driveshafts that had insufficient/incorrect lubricant. They are pretty good at isolating dates when batches of parts were used, and even then they would typically err on the conservative side and extend the period well before and after the parts would have been used up.

The next shipment of shafts was likely fine, and they have fairly accurately isolated when those parts entered the production line.

I don't work for BMW, but I work in manufacturing.

I called BMW Seattle this morning and they are ordering the parts for me. It wouldn't surprise me if I get a call back saying the parts are UNavailable. lol.
