Driveshaft recall

My 2011 x5 35i goes in tomorrow for the draveshaft recall. I have had the worst luck with BMW dealers over the years, especially the one I am taking the x5 to for the recall [going there because they have the parts and are close to me, and my former 'go to' dealer does not have the parts and has been going down hill lately anyway]. So my question is, is there any way that they can screw up the draftshaft replacement and anything that I should look out for?

Also, anyone have the tsb handy?

Thanks

wow the part alone costs $1000

What's the $30 for?

The drive shaft replacement should be straight forward. Mine is a 2012 and I just had mine replaced this week under the extension warranty...zero $ out of pocket and the dealer provided a BMW loaner.

See post #189 in the thread below for the recall number for 2011 X5s

Thanks! 30 bucks is for the one day pass to online BMW TIS. I hate to spend the money but I want to have the info. It has saved me literally $1000s of dollars in the past in getting BMW to do what it should have done in the first place, so I look at it as money well spent. Interesting that your 2012 needed one, thought it was only the 2011s.

Good you took care of it. My 2011 X5 50i just grenaded the shaft on the way home last night. Definitely a catastrophic fail.

Now you get a new transmission and transfer case, too.

Definitely a transmission, the case was fractured.

This is what I was afraid of. Well mine is done and I pick it up this morning.

They may actually be factory remanufactured units.
