My calculations (online tools) show a 265/60-18 is a 30.5".

Just curious how you come up with 31.5"?

A wheel spacer in in the front is all it takes.

Do you think this spacer is so big that the tire sicks out past the M-Style fender flares?

Duc, you are correct. I meant 265/65/18 is a 31.5" tall tire.
Here is a e71 with what seem like 32" tires and large spacers.

I have a 2012 x5d, can the 265/60-18 go on all four corners without spacers? I'm seeing a sweet deal on some Cooper Adventurre AT's right now.

They will not fit with the factory x5 rims that have 48mm offset. With factory wheels you would need a 1" spacer. I am running a 24mm offset wheel with my 265/60/18 setup instead of using 1" spacers that yields a very similar offset as a 1" spacer on the factory wheels (within half a mm).
