Pass Restraint Terror

Hey guys proud and sad owner of a 2008 x5 4.8 recently did the throttle body harness repair by cutting and splicing the harness on the throttle body , I did disconnect the negative battery terminal while doing the job, after I connected the negative battery terminal drove the car around and at heavy throttle the dam pass airbag restraint fault came on :( seat belt light and airbag light . I tried clearing it on rheingold and no luck it just stays there any ideas or tips , I don't think it's the pass mat sensor also I have already looked up on bypass modules and the BST cable anyways I'm just shocked that rheingold won't even clear it , I've cleared it in the past and it stayed off any ideas? Battery is about 8 months old .

thank you guys

1. "T"error?????

There is an 'edit' button on your post. Click on it. Then click on 'Go Advanced"...THEN you can edit the title.

Or not. Terror is kind of funny

2. You've 'cleared this error before'. But now it is back and won't clear. But you don't think it's the mat.

Why not?

The simplest and most logical explanation is that you have had an intermittant issue/failure before, and it has now fully failed.

What is the current code? Not OBD code, but SRS fault? If you cannot read that, the system you are using is not the right system to reset SRS codes....

TERROR is right hahaah nightmare . And I bealive now It has fully failed I have rheingold with the basic kcan/dcan cable I have been able to clear it with rheingold before, but I guess it has completely failed now that it won't clear do u think those seat emulators will work or since it's failed completely it must be replaced . Thanks for your reply And glad u laughed

In my z4 i was able to hook up a resistor to the pass mat sensor plug under the seat.
Im guessing x5 is similar.

Im a fan of fixing broken things...within reason. If the part is under $100, just fix it.

That damn sensor is over $300 bucks. I just used the emulator. It has worked flawlessly. $50 bucks on ebay.

I'm already buying the emulator but does it work even if the sensor has failed completely where I can't even reset the light (well I'm sure it resets but right away in a split seconds the fault is back) just don't wanna drop 50$ on an emu if it won't work for my situation thanks!!

Yes, it will. Purpose of the emulator is that it completely bypasses the sensor. Thus fooling the system.
