I am certainly interested in that Android head unit. The link you provided no longer works. I have seen these around but not from a seller I'd consider reputable. Do you have any advice on what to look for when purchasing this? Or do you think they are all pretty much the same? Thanks!

Google 4x4 shop Canada. As for the different units, YMMV. A lot of these resellers really don't have after sales and if you think you don't need it, get the cheaper unit. Look for one with a black screen. It has less glare compared to the silver bezel unit

Thanks for the info. It appears 4x4 shop Canada is offline. I think I found the same unit with a US seller. It appears they have two units available and the newest is Android 9 with 4gb RAM and the black screen bezel. It all seems pretty reasonable at about $470 US including GPS splitter. Any downsides I should be aware of? Thanks again.

Since I got my x5d in 2012 I've never used the 3rd row once. After thinking about deleting the 3rd row to install a spare for couple years, I finally did it. Overall it was straight forward process.

Yes. It is a BMW option. You can get it from the dealer. The whole spare kit.

^^ yep. or you can try finding one on Ebay or the wrecker. other options is to buy a spare from a CX7 and use the tire and buy a rim from fcp

Very nice X5. I have a few questions.

When removing the third row seating, what "new" parts do you need to finish the job. I assume that the new hard top is one of them. Did you make that or buy it from BMW ? Any other bits?

I see a Rockford amp in the side wall. What's that all about ?!?! Have you updated the audio completely in the X5? How's that screen working out? It definitely looks incredible but I've heard these aftermarket units start to fail over time. :dunno:
