All those problems probably stem from one failure.. I doubt the car is that poorly put together. Have your dealer find the source and fix it. I've had no problems at all in 2 months and 3200 miles.. Barring the DVD drive being of the wrong continent (factory problem).

Tell dealer to install NEW battery under warrenty and NOT to just recharge the old one.

Sickyute, do you have an update for us?
My money is on your battery!

sickyute 09-11-2007 10:43 AM

nothing yet.
still waiting to hear the final word. i've tried calling but no response yet.

sickyute 09-11-2007 03:19 PM

well...
today they are saying it's not the battery, not the alternator and not the starter module.
THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS!!! not music to my ears at all!!!

they are saying it's something to do with the CAST. whatever that is. that something in or around it is blocking voltage or something to that effect.

sounds like a load of BS to me and it just sounds like they don't know.

i'm told if i'm lucky i'll have it back on friday!!! if i'm lucky!!
i bough the car on thursday and it's not working from saturday but if i'm lucky i'll have it back on friday? how does that sound.

to make it even worst! i've been driving around in a BS PT Cruiser cuz they don't have loaners available.

how unacceptable is that?

advice?

request a BMW loaner (remind them that your car is only days old, and that anything less is not appropiate) and be patient.
It is most definatley a bummer...but shit happens. Just a shame it had to happen to a few day old ride which is obviously ruining the experience. Once the issue is resolved and youve spent a few weeks in your awesome new ride, you will forget all about this.

I have over 10,000 miles and I still look forward to my ride to work every morning!

I have quite similar issues except the awd + dsc malfunction. My 3.0 SI was not able to start the engine and all sudden it started again. I called SOS and took it to the dealer, the dealer had my car for nearly three days and could not find the problem. The hand brake was malfuntioned once, and it working ok since without repairing.

I took my car back to the dealer last week and they kept it for two days to replace the whole camera system. It is working great for more than a week now for the first time since I brough her home in late Feb. For those of you who still have the backup camera issue, I would recommend and request your dealer replace the entire new camera system.

sounds familiar.
the car did start up after it did it the first time.
i couldn't take it to the dealer cuz it was closed already.
then a couple hrs. later i try to go out and the same shit. only this time it won't start up or anything so i towed it in monday since the dealer was closed sunday.

but it does sound like the same crap to an extent.

Demand for a BMW loaner. Their freakin executives drives low mileage demos so I don't believe it when any dealer tells me they don't have any loaner. I would also contact BMW NA and demand a prorated portion of your monthly payments depending on how long they keep the car.

Bigtop 09-11-2007 07:08 PM

I would definitely demand a good BMW loaner, that is unacceptable. Copy this thread in the forum and fax it to the fax number the BMW North America gives to you when you call them, and cc the owner/manager of your BMW dealership.
