will do.

dude, demand, demand, and then demand... let them know you mean business... and frankly they will remember you (fear you) when you return with another problem...

not to say we hope you have more problems...but lately these x5s are behaving poorly...

just got off the phone.
bmw north america spoke with them i guess so they called.
they'll get me into a proper loaner.

the problem seems to be with the CAS. they are awaiting advice from bmw tech service as to if they should reprogram it or replace it.

Now that's progress. Please keep us posted.

I'm a litttle nervous, taking delivery tomorrow. :(

well i was nervous too. especially with the ipod 6fl fiasco.
turned out everything worked flawlesly where that was concerned and with the vehicle overall.
but 1.5 days later and this.
atleast they are ontop of it now.

What is the CAS/CAST? My car is having the exact same problems, in the UK, it has just been towed to the garage tonight. It would be great to phone them in the morning before it hits the service department and tell them what the problem is. Could you send me the name and number of your service dept, I know it's in the US, but it's the identical problem so maybe they could call and swap information.

954-620-5050 .. lauderdale imports
my service advisor is Peter Melchor
the service manager's name is Todd

CAS is what the key goes into so u can start the car the way i understand it.

have you heard anything back from the dealer?

sickyute 09-14-2007 09:05 AM

only what i've said so far.
BMWNA customer relations told me that it was noted i'd have the vehicle back today when they checked yesterday.
i went to the service department yesterday to see how true that was and when i got there i was told "we are still working on it and we can't give a definite date yet".
i call BMWNA back and spoke with the same person i've been dealing with and she said she'd place another call to see what's going on.
i hope to hear back from her today and hope it's something i want to hear.
i can't understand how BMWNA would tell me the dealer noted today but then they tell me they don't know.
IMO they need to be on the same page!

CAS is the Car Access System

Details here:

If it is defective - it is most likely the control unit......good chance they won't get the part for a few weeks! I had a defective xDrive control unit - took 10 weeks to get resolved.
