can someone describe what the 16 speaker configuration looks like (where are these speakers?) VS the 12 speakers? I'm going to go count right now.. ;)

HA! I only have 12 speakers as well and yes I have comfort access, (premium package). Oh man...Better let them know soon. Thanks! (by the way, for the lights package that is included in the Canadian premium package, does it include lighting in the bottom doorsill? I see some pics of X5s here that has the glowing BMWX5 light on the rear doorsill but mine doesn't have it)

if you have the canadian premium package then you should have 16 speakers with 2 subs.

Also mine has the light as welll. Yours should have it because you have the premium package unless it comes with the cold weather package which i have - I doubt that. Or they sold you a lemon as well.

So the dealer is updating software on my SAV which will take 5 hours to complete - apparently. After, they will decide what to do with the loss of my speakers.

Everybody(Canadians) count your speakers. We are probably getting ripped off in Canada.

I only have 12 speakers and 2 woofers. Easier way to find out is to go to the iDrive speaker configuration and finding 7.1 channel and stereo, not the 9.1 channel option that should come with the LOGIC 7 premium sound. all this time I thought I had the premium sound package!! I paid for it too!!

I was talking about the 'BMWX5' light right on the doorsill not the light that shines the bottom of the door. I'll look for the picture. i;m sure i've seen it in this forum before

The light on the doorsill is an accessory option on the BMW accessories page. I dont' believe it comes standard unless Canada is different that way too.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe auto manufacturers cheat when it comes to counting speakers. A 2-way speaker behind one grill gets counted as "2 speakers", even though it looks like one. A 2-way speaker, for example, could be something like a tweeter and midrange in one enclosure with a single grill. So it tends to be hard to count speaker grills and expect it to match up with the claimed number of speakers. The best way to check is to compare your specific speaker configuration with a standard car and see if they're different.

Aren't the subs only part of Premium Sound? If you have those, you should be fine.

What is the difference (in terms of speaker configuration) between the premium sound and stock? Does premium sound support 9 ch surround or 7? Mine says its 7.1 surround sound.

I have one set on the A pillar (that would be one each side, so two), one set on front doors (one each so two total) have two sets on rear doors (four in total) and four on the C pillars (two on each side) and that totals to 12 speakers and I;m also assuming i have two subwoofers under my front seats. I do not have the 6 cd changer in the glove box. Is that the premium sound configuration? I'm supposed to have it but some how i doubt that I do. :rofl:

this is all a mess. Somehow BMW Canada is cheating us.

Well i have to wait and see what they say.

Also, do any one have their SAV brakes making noise? The dealer claims its all 2007 2008 BMW brakes makes noise. I beg to differ on that one
