speaker count is based on all speakers, tweeters and subs...

should be 12 or 16 speakers in all....

12= one speaker w/separate tweeter for each on each of the four doors (8) plus two sub-woofers under the front seats (2), plus one speaker w/one separate tweeter on top of the dash (2)...

16= adds two more speakers and two more tweeters in the rear pillar/trunk area.(4)

stock amp should be 205 watts w/7 channels
premium amp should be 600 watts w/9 channels

Note: Premium speakers are slightly better in quality but same size.

thanks for that info. how can you check if you have 7 or 9 channel?

I think easiest thing is to check idrive...if you have DSP and equalizer settings than you have premium if not...plain config.

I just HAD TO go outside and look for the speakers in the trunk area :)... Yes, they were there... and I did not even notice them at the time of the delivery :)

LoL Yes, I have the premium sound! haha thanks Rodybmw!! (My iDrive only has either stereo or 7.1 channel option though.. I'm still unsure about the 9 channel thing the document talks about)

The two subs equal 2 of the chanels.

so i got my SAV back yesterday. Still couple of problems they couldnt solve:

- the burnt CD i was playing in the 08 528 cannot play in my X5. Also it stil skips some tracks that plays fine in the 528

- Back speakers is as loud as the front. They said the new X is desgined that way.
Im a bit dissapointed but i still love my X
