Engine oil at minimum level
A engine oil at minimum level warning light shown this morning. It just reached 5k miles. Is it normal?
|
no, dealer time (ask them to find root cause too).
|
It is very common. Using one quart in 5000 miles is typical oil consumption. Easiest thing is to just add a quart of oil, but you can go by your dealer since you are in the US and they will add it for you.

:iagree: ...with JCL. The part I don't know is the oil level sensor warning
in the new E70s: if it comes "on" with 1 or 2, or more qts "down". But, a qt or 2, in the first 5,000 miles is fairly typical in these engines. Some owners will see very little oil consumption, others will see your rate of consumption. And, your dlr will point that out, when you get your freebie top off. If there are no obvious leaks, drips, smoking tail pipe, I would not worry, but watch consumption over the next 5K miles. GL,mD |

I don't think that level of oil consumption is anything to worry about, personally. |
Thanks guys. Will see dealer next week. Should I call in to give them a heads up? Or just drop by at the sercive department?

My E70 burns a quart every 5000 miles or so..

What fun would that be... A quart of oil is a small price to pay for my happiness ;)
