Hello everyone. I'm new here.
I hope you don't have to have the FOB in the ignition in order to keep anyone from opening the doors. I thought one of the big points of the Comfort Access was to be able to jump in the car, hit the start button and go (with the FOB in your pocket). At least for me that was my thought. If my doors are then locked, I don't want anyone to be able to walk up and open a door. So it seems to me that the fact that the key is inside the car should keep the doors locked. Maybe there is a setting for not allowing the outside "button" to be able to lock the doors when the FOB is inside. It is weird that there seems to be two different things happening with the same scenario. Can you guys post exactly how you locked your doors and where the FOB was? ps I pick mine up sometime this next week (hopefully). It was at the factory on Friday ready to be shipped. |
The only thing I can think of is, the comfort access security feature works inconjunction with the seat sensor. If a azz is planted, then the outside handle is disabled. I tried to lock to door a couple of times. A good friend of mine has a Merc S550 and he was wondering the same thing. The S550 wouldn't allow him to lock his door either........Phil

When washing the car, it locks and unlocks every time you spray any of the door handles, because it thinks you are touching the handles. When the key fobb is INSIDE the car, it should not do that because you shouldn't be able to lock it in the first place. I think what happened is that I put the key fobb on the seat and shut the door so fast that the car didn't have enough time to sense the key is actually inside. I didn't even think to call BMW assist. My wallet, phone etc was all in the car! The first instinct was to call home as I was only a few blocks away at the car wash. Just want to let you guys know this CAN happen (if you're in a hurry) and prevent others from doing the same... |
I explained in a previous post, that the samething happened, lock-unlock, while washing the car...after 3 visit they decided to change the control unit that is behind the handle on the driver side...and did not get the problem anymore.
twice in heavy rain the windows openned half-way also. But all seems fine now. Except for water inside the tail gate. |

I've washed numerous times with the key inside the cabin - and only because I've had the water unlock/lock the doors on me while keys were on me - then I remember to throw it in. Not once have I had it lock when the water hits the handles again. And people outside aren't supposed to be able to open your door if your'e in there with the key (also tested). I don't know what circumstance caused yours to lock unless the lock signal was sent and delayed - or it was a glitch in the matrix. ;) Electronics are flaky like that... but regardless, it theoretically isn't supposed to happen.

I had another "oh cool" experience today when I was at the rear right door getting my kid out and realized my driver's window was left open... half-a-second after thinking "ah crap", I remembered the trick... touch once to lock all the doors. Touch and hold again and all windows shut. Sweet deal. |

You need to set this up on forehand online, with a few safety questions.
