Looks like all you need to do is the basic common reset. Try holding the button in the up/vent position... it should start moving after about 20 seconds and will go through the complete movement all the way through (as long as you don't let off) Once it has fully closed and stopped moving, it should be back to normal operation.

:iagree: This is the way to reset the sunroof, i had to do it twice and after every reset the error goes away, not sure what causes it, once it came on after i replaced the battery, and just last week after washing the car. :dunno:

thats the initialization procedure which i have done before taking to the dealership, the roof slides that little bit open and stops, tilting etc happens perfectly!

maybe we should initialize it after proramming???

what about the parking brake actuator???do they operate on the same com bus?

I am not sure how advanced your shop is and what equipment you have, try clearing the car computer, you need advanced computers, a OBD scanner will not work, and just clear the whole system, all the codes, reset everything. The dealer would just reprogram the new part you installed and thats it, they will not clear the system because it clears all the service requirements.

they are running the current ISYS/ICOM system, the latest BMW has to offer... I doubt 2 sunroofs can do the exact same thing hey

As for the ACTUATOR, im baffled!!!

Help my sunroof wont tilt, anymore it open and close OK but just want tilt, i tried resting the sunroof by holding down the center bottom, i hear it resting but, nothing for the tilt.... i might have broke something because a few days before the roof was stuck in the tilt position, it started to Rain so i push down on the roof force closing it.....i know the motor is working because i can hear it going when i push switch
to tilt the roof....if i push up on the sunroof when its in tilt by hand it does open, but doesn't stay open.... can anyone help .........

You broke it. Take it apart and fix it, or bring it to a QUALIFIED mechanic or the dealer and be prepared for a $$$ repair.

thank God for the search function.

My very pregnant wife (Section scheduled Monday!!) decided to fart in the suv tonight on our way home from dinner and :wow: did it nearly kill us. She quick pushes the vent button and all is well and good till we try to close it. All it did was make a couple of whirring noises as it the motor was trying to do something and it was stuck. I though oh man, it's 24 degrees out and something in the mechanism froze. Got home tinkered with it, tried the manual open/close method, nothing. Couldn't get the interior cover to close and wasn't sure if the sunroof itself had sealed properly.

Gave up and came online to look to see if there was anything I could do and found this thread. Ran back out, did the reset and bingo we're back in business. Thank you forum peeps!!
